Copywriting Tips for Small Businesses and Charities: Using Bold and Italics in Your Online Copy and Blogs

If you are about to write a blog or add some fresh content for your website, why not use some bold and italics to add emphasis to certain areas, phrases or words.

Bolding certain areas of your copy or blogs is a great way to grab the attention of your readers and can be used well to highlight certain deals, benefits or areas of importance.

Italics are used in much the same way as bold to highlight areas in your online copy. However, italics don't visually stand out as much as bold, so are mostly just used to add slight emphasis to words and phrases. Quotes can also be written in italics to make them more prominent in main body text. 

Using both bold and italics in your online copy, blogs and articles will improve the readability for your visitors and give your content more visual depth.

Remember, one section of bold or a couple of well-placed italic words are generally enough to improve readability, add emphasis and enhance the visual character of your copy.
